The main purpose of Icelandic Savings Bank Asscociation is to watch over the Savings Banks' mutual interests, as well as to strengthen their business so that they will be able to promote savings and contribute to sound national economy. It also represents the Savings Banks in dealings with the government, ministries, the National Bank of Iceland, public authorities, the Financial Supervisory Authority and other financial institutions. It also has a representative in Icelandic Bank Data Center.
